Your ACRA Board wants you to know that...

We know you're very busy producing transcripts and enjoying life, but we want to make sure you have information on your profession and the various developments going on right here in the State of Arizona. Changes were made to the Administrative Code CCR portion this past year. The ACRA Board has created a synopsis of our opinion of important points, including ethics, specifics duties and formatting issues that you should be aware of to make sure you are always in compliance with the law.

There is a portion of the Rules for Civil Procedure that have some changes in the works, but the current Rule 30 contains information you should have.

The work that will affect our profession is being done by the Keeping the Record Committee, which is the Supreme Court committee that is exploring various forms of keeping the record, i.e., courtroom proceedings, depositions, etc.

You should also be aware of the National Court Reporter's Association's Code of Ethics. This will help you understand how to deal with certain situations, such as guidelines in providing an uncertified rough draft, etc.

NCRA also has and advisory board who submits opinions regarding specific situations, i.e., providing audio sync files to attorneys; contracting with insurance companies, etc. There are 42 different opinions.

We want to make sure our membership knows and understands these various issues. We invite you to go to these websites and print out these pages. Make yourself a file or notebook and begin reading and highlighting as you wait for the next deposition to start or when there's some extra time in court. It is important that we all understand these issues and show a level of professionalism and knowledge of our field.

Thanks!!!!
